A fairly deserved lost
A dramatic lost i would say, as i sat quietly in the hostel’s cafe watching the team i so dearly support for last eleven years defeated out of the Champions League group stage for the very first time in football history. All eyes were on the Devils, even though Benfica had the full advantage of playing home and scored 2 magnificent goals. The last 4 minutes was surely dramatic, cameras showed each of the hopless faces of United’s players; Ronaldo seating on the bench, Park Ji Sung on the right flank, Ruud watches Quim(benfica keeper) finishes his injury act, and Rooney thinking he wasnt Best after all.
They played a terrible match that Wednesday night, reasons: over confident after their performance in the Premiership and scholes early goal, anxious, and Ronaldo was fooling around. Scholes first goal was quite unpredictable, they didnt celebrate, Gary didnt, he just walked away after that wonderful assist, even the scorer didnt know what happened. After that, they completely lost their balance with their confidence and the defence broke down. O’shea lacked, the ball went trhough and the center back didnt even bother to mark the Benfica’s first scorer. I’d have to salute Benfica for their wonderful performance, but i disrespect their way of waisting time, Benfice keeper Quim played a terrific acting scene where he wasted most of the 4 minutes extra time with United players waiting for him getting his treatments lying on the ground and infront of the post that united were suppose to shoot at. Ronaldo was a complete waste, Ferguson should’ve put Park in for the first eleven instead of the selfish Portugal wonder boy. The second half was filled with anxiety, desprately in need of goal where they completely lost their discipline, order, positioning and most of all consentration. Ferguson had to put three strikers up by bringing in Saha, but there was no luck. Right now all thats left is hope, Gary who was officially announced the new skipper said that the team will bounce back. Will they? Maybe its true what they say about united, this is the down fall of the Manchester United era. Keano’s out just like that, Giggs is just too old for the job, the youngsters are doing preety badly, Fergie favors Fletcher more than anything, the american owners are puting preasure on Fergie, the babyface striker is coming back….is he? Even now Boss Alex Ferguson refuses to talk about his future with the club, the same thing goes with the owners. Both parties refuse to comment. Meaning, there might be a possibility that Fergie wont be boss for long. However, he’s doing well in the premiership and that might be a reason to keep him that is if they continue to do well. Just look up for this Sunday’s match againts everton.
